Dear Mr. Ames,

If life is like a tapestry
then yours is bright and bold
With silver threads now woven through
to memories enfold.

If life is like a rainbow bright
your arc is full, complete
You've known the borders of the earth
and seen the sea's retreat.

If life is like a candle flame
that glows in deepest night
The brightness brought to every stage
sent darkness into flight.

If life is like a symphony
with notes so pure and clear
The melodies you give our hearts
endure from year to year.

So Happy Birthday to you, sir
and many, many more.
From us to you we raise a toast
and sweetest wishes pour.

Shalom Mr. Ames,

I wrote before I just wanted to let you know that I find your voice very relaxing and soothing. I live with chronic pain Due to a hip replacement that went bad. The songs you sing make me feel better.

Shalom,
Catherine Southward

WOW, the thought of leaving a message for Mr. Ames is abit overwhelming since he's been an idol for the last 35 years.... and the internet a bit too public to gush, but here goes anyway!

When I was 11 years old I'd take out my father's Ed Ames albums and play them on his old stereo with the speakers facing one another and my head on a pillow between them. I'd lay there on the floor for hours, listening to them again and again, memorizing not only the words and order, but every syllable and breathe. They are still my confiscated treasured possessions and it's amazing there is any vinyl left, as the grooves are surely worn thin. For my 12th birthday (best present ever) I got Ed Ames tickets at the Arena Theater in Houston, Texas. I was overwhelmed when he walked down MY ISLE, and I even had an end seat! What a groupie, but I guess not, as I had to be the only one of any age in the whole building that didn't know he was also Mingo. I was just hopelessly in love with the voice. Guess I was a little too old for the part where the kids went on stage to meet him, but I bet I appreciated his music better than they did. I am pleased that even with time my first love has not diminished, I just wish I had the time to lay down and listen to album after album like I did so many years ago. And Mr. Ames, if you DO really read this, you will always be my #1 favorite.

It's nice to read this blog and bio and find out how fine a person you are too. (most idols fade, but not mine, guess quality is like that!)

On the off chance that Ed Ames really does read this blog, I'd like to add some more gush. I watched that 50's music program on PBS the other day and recorded it the next afternoon after I saw that you were in it. It was a real treat to see and hear you after all these years. It's nice to see that you didn't go all Hollywood and erase all those wonderful wrinkles with plastic surgery. You have aged gracefully and beautifully! How amazing that your voice has retained so much power and authority. You sound marvelous! I appreciate the musical legacy that you have left us. I wonder what your grandchildren think of their talented and handsome grandfather. Thank you so much for the music, the memories and for taking time to appear on that PBS show. Love and Best Wishes, Sandy ss*meow@yahoo.com (remove *)

I first heard Ed's incredible voice on the Voice of America in the mid-60's while living near Bangalore, South India. The rest is history! Since then, I have marveled at his magnificent voice (just as I have at that of Jim Reeves). I have not been a fan of the Ames brothers tunes as much as I have been of Ed's. My first single ever was "Changing Changing" on the red RCA label. It is great to hear your voice booming over the airwaves every Christmas.I have placed one of his songs in tribute at my Voice of America page under 'India 60's Pop' at: http://harry.cckerala.com

God bless you, Ed.

Dear Mr. Ames,
I really hope you read these. I just want you to know how special your Christmas music is to my brother and me. Growing up, it wasn't the Christmas season until we broke out the Ed Ames Christmas album. I still feel that way and am passing along the love of your Christmas music to my husband and babies.

I pray that you are blessed and healthy and that you find your peace in Him.

Sincerely,
